The people behind Vistal are real, and we love helping the community. We're involved with a few projects that contribute toward social good.
New+Vision Soccer
Gerald is on the board of directors of New+Vision, which aims to mentor youth in Africa through soccer and teach them a trade. He became involved with the organization 10 years ago through his friend, Nate.
“We have been to Arusha, Tanzania, together, and I have been there on my own,” Gerald says. “We are planning on returning soon to set up a wood shop that will offer apprenticeships to the boys as a means of giving them a trade.”
Some of the boys have already created amazing works of craftsmanship through New+Vision. Famous guitar maker Andy Beech traveled to Tanzania and taught the youth how to build guitars.
Once they’re built, the guitars are shipped to the U.S. for finishing and final delivery.
Finishing the guitars involves:
- Final sanding
- Applying and buffing finish
- Adding the nuts
- Adding the tuners and strings
